Daily Life
Enjoy life to the full at Fourways with a varied activities programme and delicious, freshly made food.
It is widely recognised that having the chance to socialise, participate in different experiences and learn new skills has a positive effect on mental health and well-being. When you join our vibrant community, you are given many opportunities to embrace everyday life here. Our activities programme is designed to give you as much choice as possible. From the lively to the low key, we try our hardest to offer something to appeal to all tastes, with exercise classes, quiz afternoons, crafting sessions, music, poetry reading and more all part of the schedule.
If you are not able to join events in the communal areas, we also provide room-based activities where necessary. Of course, our staff are on hand to reminisce or read letters and books out loud when you would just like some company. Newspapers are available throughout the week and our group readings often provoke many discussions solving the problems of the day!
With all that Sidmouth has to offer on our doorstep, we also provide regular opportunities for you to get out and about.
Maintaining a link to the wider community is important to many of our residents. Thanks to our accessible minibus, we support this wherever possible through day excursions, Saturday shopping trips, and drives to the beach or local countryside. We can even help you to meet up with local friends for a coffee.
Food is a real highlight at Fourways and you will eat well while you are here.
Our chefs make all meals on the premises, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The menu is available 24 hours ahead, giving you plenty of time to decide what you would like to eat.
As well as your three meals a day, you can choose from a 24-hour snack menu in your room and enjoy cheese, crackers and sherry each evening – and, as we are in Devon, it is almost obligatory to provide regular cream teas. Hot drinks are always available and you can help yourself to water and squash at the snack stations.
You will find that meals are a social occasion, with many people staying to chat afterwards over a glass of wine or cup of coffee. You can choose to have your food in your room if you prefer. The option for breakfast in bed does prove particularly popular!
